In November 2016 I had a delightful time speaking with Lucie Grimm from Lucie’s Apothecary.  I was given her information through Melissa Hansen from episode 6 Tea or Tisane with Melissa Hansen.  If you’ve ever wondered about apothecaries and what they can offer, then you will thoroughly enjoy this episode.  Lucie has a beautiful way of describing her craft and the research behind her product.  Be sure to listen to the end because there is a really cool fact about her and her husband.

(**There was a technical error the first day of the episode was loaded which caused the episode to be cut short.  This has been resolved.  I believe that if you have already downloaded the podcast from iTunes, Google Play, or Stitcher, that you will have to delete the download and refresh the podcast feed.  Thanks for your patience and understanding.  Let me know if there are any questions or if there are any further issues.  **=)

In October of 2016 I spoke with Gabbie Hirsch, a Las Vegas based artist with incredible creativity, insight, and energy.  Our conversation delved into her many artistic ventures, her history, and a bit into the intellectual side of what she does.  It was so much fun speaking with her.

“The play of the interspace of the painting and the interspace of the viewer keeps flipping back and forth… I am fascinated with the physiology of the eye and the functioning and how the neurology of the brain processes images.”

Hammons Honey with Josh Hammons

Click here for podcast: Episode 10: Hammons Honey with Josh Hammons

On October 21st, 2016, I was able to snatch an interview with Josh Hammons, the owner of Hammons Honey.  It was the end of a farmers market day for him, and he was very kind to take time for an interview.  As you can imagine, he was exhausted from a day’s work already of selling honey, but this doesn’t come across in our conversation.  Josh is very passionate about what he does and I was fascinated by the information he shared, as I hope you will be too. =)

Jones Jazz

Podcast: Episode 4: Jones Jazz

On August 12th, 2016, I visited with Mike Jones of Jones Jazz.  What an amazing jazz pianist!  I was introduced to Mike Jones through a previous guest on ColorMeLocal, and am thankful for that introduction.  Our conversation will cover Mike’s move to Las Vegas, his journey as a jazz pianist, and a brief history of jazz among other things.  One of his dogs joined us for most of the interview as well so you might notice the noise of paws or hear him in the background.  He was very well behaved and it was fun having that dynamic during the recording.  I really enjoyed my conversation with Mike and I hope you do too!

Sweetpotato Awesome

ColorMeLocal Podcast: Episode 2: Sweetpotato Awesome

On August 3, 2016, I had the pleasure of visiting with Josh Kingdon, the owner of Sweetpotato Awesome, a local business to Las Vegas, NV, that produces freeze-dried sweet potato slices.  We had originally planned to meet in Josh’s kitchen, where he is currently making these delicious bites under a cottage license.  However, the noise from the freeze-dry machine would have interfered with the podcast.  Thankfully, there was a local french cafe close by with a conference room that we could use.  It was a wonderful place to meet.  During our conversation you’ll hear the faint hint of cafe music.

Josh is an easygoing, yet driven small business owner.  He has been persistent in maintaining quality while establishing his business and the excellence of his product speaks to this. Soon these unique slices of goodness will be available for online sale, but for now sales must be completed in person with Josh.  Enjoy this while you can.  He is a business owner you will be glad to meet.  img_9258IMG_9137

Baguette Cafe

ColorMeLocal Podcast: Episode 1: Baguette Cafe
I had the delightful opportunity of visiting with Olivier Brouillet, one of the owners of Baguette Cafe, on July 17th, 2016.  We met in his cafe after it had closed on a Sunday.  The warm Las Vegas sun streamed through large windows which helped create a bright and welcoming atmosphere.  In the background of the podcast you can hear people cleaning, the busyness of closing time.  They were kindly working quieter than usual so that Olivier and I could record our visit, but even so, you will be to hear some familiar sounds.  I love it.  It’s a good reminder that it takes lots of hard work, that often goes unnoticed, in order for a business to succeed.
